You Know Who Don’t Do That?
Execution: Some Black people think enjoying the great outdoors isn’t a Black-friendly pastime. We’ll take a deeper look at that misconception and showcase the community jumping outside of their perceived comfort zones. Subverting expectations and preconceived notions, we’ll create a series of billboards and snipes for the National Park Service featuring Black people hiking, camping, kayaking, and enjoying nature alongside their friends and family.
The tactics will be placed strategically, based on demographics and proximity to national parks nationwide. The tagline—“You Know Who Don’t Do That?”—will be recognizable to those within the culture and act as an attention-getter. An accompanying website will direct to a landing page that highlights nearby national parks and offers information on famous Black outdoorsmen and women like Charles Young, Rahawa Haile, and others, encouraging the Black community to see themselves in these places that they have, historically, not felt welcome.
